The Warm Home Discount is a government programme that provides a one-off rebate to the electricity bills of UK homes that are at risk of fuel poverty. Most households that are eligible for the Warm Home Discount Scheme as part of the core group don’t need to do anything to be enrolled on to the scheme. If you are eligible, you should be enrolled automatically and you will receive a letter to confirm this. If you have already received the discount, then you could be fine to switch suppliers.
Low Income Broader Group Criteria
The Warm Home Discount is a one-off payment of £140 to go towards electricity bills. If you meet the criteria for the Warm Home Discount rebate under the Core Group, you will receive a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions letting you know that you qualify. There is no Warm Home discount application as such as you should automatically qualify if you meet the criteria.

This is where data around floor area, property age and property type is used by the government to identify households that are likely to have high energy costs. The discount is separate from Cold Weather Payments andWinter Fuel Payments. This means that if you received either of these payments, they were unaffected by the Warm Home Discount. There is no need to apply for the Warm Home Discount anymore - your supplier will automatically apply the discount to your bill if you are eligible.
